Where are these, what are they and what are their stories?
How many of these Chaldon concrete structures can you identify?
And a note: until 28th March, the golf course was closed to the playing of golf because of lockdown and it was possible to walk freely over it, allowing public access to see some interesting concrete structures that are usually out of reach. The wood just behind and to the north of the clubhouse has channels and other bits in it, and elsewhere you may find a large (8” or so) concrete drain pipe, and in two sites there are large (4 ft) tanks. (It’s a kindness not to walk over the greens themselves.)
There are no prizes for the challenge, just the fun of seeing if you can identify where and what these structures are.
Click Concrete Challenge Answers when you are ready to see if you are right about the nine images. Coming soon, a map with the positions and descriptions of all the structures covered in the talk.
See below for information on the talk, Concrete Evidence of the Past, and to gain access to a recording of it . Cost £5 and proceeds go to the Friends of Chaldon Church for the conservation of the building and the mural.
